Ready or not, here 2021 comes! And that’s a relief to many. It’s no stretch to say that we want 2021 to be a better year than last, and you can’t go wrong starting it off with good deeds and charity. There are plenty of folks already off to making that happen thanks to their efforts in making the world a better place. Gamigo has launched a new Reforestation: Reloaded initiative to benefit the planet and local communities, offering special bundles throughout its stable of games (including but not limited to Trove, Archeage, RIFT, and Defiance 2020). And the Warframe and Star Trek Online communities have been giving to charity while giving to others (and even themselves). And you can still get in on some of this uplifting action!
Trove makes groves in Reforestation: Reloaded
In a move that started last spring, Trove has been making groves! Gamigo partnered with Eden Reforestation Projects, an organization that provides a positive impact by both planting trees to help the environment and providing fair wage employment to the locals who plant them. At the end of the year, Gamigo shared that thanks to players around the globe, 113,127 trees were planted. That came about through over 1,000 days of employment that benefited both families and individuals in the local areas. But who says it’s stopping there?
Gamigo has again partnered with Eden Reforestation Projects, offering new bundles for games that will directly benefit the organization. Called Reforestation: Reloaded, this initiative has bundles available in many games, so players have lots of options to help. Games included are: Trove, Archeage, ArcheAge Unchained, Fiesta Online, Atlas Rogues, Eden Eternal, RIFT, Defiance 2020, and more! Each game has three packages players can select from: the garden lockbox for $4.99 (plant five trees), the grove pack for $9.99 (10 trees), or the forest pack for $19.99 (20 trees). Each pack offers a specific collection of in-game rewards.

Giving in the spirit of Tennobaum
Warframe players participated in a special gift-giving event over the holidays orchestrated by Digital Extremes. Unlike a regular office party or family gathering, this special tradition of passing out presents has a charitable component! It starts with players just buying in-game items as gifts for one another, then Digital Extremes matches the gifts’ financial value and donates those funds to a local charity. Not only are your friends getting gifts but so are others who are in need. This past season, DE chose Kids Help Phone for the recipient charity, an organization that focuses on the mental health children and youth. It’s goals are to provide a supportive voice to those struggling when they need it most, with access to support via texting, calls, messaging, or though helpful tips in articles. Thanks to the players, when the funds from the event were matched, DE donated $45,000 CAD to Kids Help Phone.

Giving for Tribbles
There’s much to be said for service and charity work where you don’t expect anything in return, but there’s nothing wrong with both getting something and giving to others! Perfect World’s Star Trek Online is all about you getting something for yourself while also giving to others. The studio has teamed up with Groupees and SteelSeries for a charity drive that offers special charity bundles of goodies in-game to players. While the Tier 1 bundle (Tribbles!) pack starts at $2 and the Tier 2 (Ship and upgrades plus the Tribbles!) starts at $10, players can customize the amount they give. There is also the option to get them as a gift for another.
For each and every purchase of these two bundles until February 4th, 100% of the net proceeds (estimated 90% of total) will be donated to the Boys and Girls Club of America. Additionally, Perfect World has made a minimum commitment of $150,000 to BGCA for cause marketing promotions in 2021.
For those who just want to give to the cause without buying a bundle, there is also the option to donate directly. Anyone who donates $100 or more will be automatically entered into a drawing for a $50 SteelSeries gift card and a Star Trek Legendary Bundle (available on winners’ choice of platform); five winners will be randomly selected and notified via email by February 12th, 2021.
