Chinese smartphone maker Oppo is known for its innovative smartphone designs with the company just recently showcasing a rollable phone and a whole host of concept foldable phones.
The company has not shied away from experimenting with its cameras and when other smartphone brands were busy introducing camera that is pop-up, Oppo introduced one with a Shark-fin design digital camera module.
Continuing the trend, Oppo has requested a patent of a fresh pop-up camera module that it self, if Oppo can effectively enhance, will allow the organization to full cover up all its digital cameras through the back for the phone.
This patent had been granted to Oppo year that is late last according to LetsGoDigital, this smartphone will have a dual-camera setup that would pop-up when required.
That means the company can ensure there isn’t a camera on the rear of the phone.
While we have seen smartphones with dual-selfie camera pop-ups, the design that Oppo intends to slightly make is various.
According to your patent, the organization desires to spot two digital camera sensors (preferably a primary and an shooter that is ultra-wide inside the body of the phone.
How will this work? The pop-up module itself wouldn’t house the camera sensors. Instead it would have two prisms mirrors that are(using that each point at either part for the unit enabling users to recapture a selfie or a graphic through the back for the phone if the module has popped up.
These prisms are put in a means that the light originating from exterior can get mirrored about the sensor, and after that the information and knowledge are read and prepared.
This is significantly like the periscopic camera setup that many smart phones come built with and gives impressive telescopic zoom features crammed into a module that is tiny.
Since this is a patent the details and implementations that are practical not so clear yet, nonetheless it appears that both the prisms may be used to capture one image, meaning that this may act as a dual-camera setup.
We’re unsure if this camera module will make its way ever out of test labs into a smartphone you can readily buy. It would be a very interesting implementation and may allow Oppo to introduce more bold new smartphone designs.(* if it does,)
